August 2006

This has been a very eventful month for us. There is more detail below, but in summary, we have started back to school again, Maggie turned 1 month old, we have spent time with family, and we have had to learn once again how to organize our schedule. Now I'll expound a little.

Back to School
This is the last semester at Harding for both of us. Chris is taking 6 hours, but they are consuming a lot more hours in the week than 6. Casey is taking 12 hours, and they're taking up about as much time. “When do we take care of Maggie?” you might ask. We don't. Just kidding...that's what I was talking about by having to figure out our schedule again. We have to stagger our classes and work in order to allow one of us to be able to be with her at all times. It's tough, but we're making it all right with God's help. Both of us are working quite a bit, too. Chris is working about 24 hours a week and Casey is working about 10. This is probably the busiest time we have ever experienced. Something we didn't mention is that Chris was appointed team leader for his senior project's team. This takes up a large portion of his time. Casey is working on her senior project too: a really big paper, and she has so far spent most of her time reading and researching for that. I'm sure a lot of you remember those busy times in school trying to work and study and take care of your family. So, please pray for us during this busy time in our lives.

Baby Maggie
Maggie is doing great! She is growing and looking better every day. She has started to smile a little bit at us. One smile from her makes it all worth it (long nights and everything). She is such a beautiful little girl. As I mentioned earlier, we are having to stagger everything in order to take turns taking care of her. This is pretty stressful on us, because we have much less time with each other than we have in the past.

Family Visits
One of the best things we have done this past month is spend time with family. Both Chris' and Casey's families have been able to come to Searcy for a while. Casey's family came about 2 weeks ago for a weekend and really enjoyed spending time with their first granddaughter. Chris' family all gathered for “The Big MO,” a family retreat for the Mozambique mission team, of which Chris' sister Martha and her family are a part of. That took place this last weekend (Sept. 1-3) and was a real blessing to all who participated. Chris' parents are now on their way back to Africa via New Jersey.
Cambodia News
Please be parying for our church, Downtown Church of Christ, as they are deciding Septemeber 17th whether they will send a mission team to Cambodia, Tanzania or Peru. The missions committee has spent several months researching, praying and discussing. We know God will bless their effort with a great decision.

So, all in all, this has been a really great month. We appreciate all of you and thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Please call, write, or email us. We would love to hear from you! God bless you!
